As a private home

Villa de l´Arc is a perfect home to live all year long: great for a large family but also manageable if there are just the two of you. There is ample space to accommodate friends and family when they are visiting Provence.

The house is big enough to provide privacy to everybody while at the same time you can all enjoy the spacious terrace, the pool and the gardens, the sunny climate from March till November. Luncheons under the large parasols, late afternoon drinks in the shade, dinners on the terrace in the warm summer evenings.

Winters in Orange are mild and short, but will have nippy days. The heating system throughout the house will keep you comfortable. And then of course there is the grand fireplace for cozy winter nights.  There will be wine-festivals throughout the region, a large Christmas market in Avignon, and then of course your Christmas dinner at the large table in the dining room.

Living at the edge of downtown Orange is nice and comfortable. Pretty much all facilities are within walking distance: supermarkets and specialty shops, the weekly farmers market, schools, doctor and dentist offices. The hospital and train station are a 20 minutes’ walk or 5 minutes by car  The large shopping mall in Orange Sud is only 10 minutes by car and the even larger shopping mall in Avignon-Nord is only a 15 minutes’ drive. Villa de l’Arc is less than 5 minutes away from exit 21 of the A7, the Autoroute that runs from Lyon to Marseille.

There are bus-services throughout the Vaucluse and beyond. There is a bus stop close close by.  From Orange there are regular train services throughout Southeastern France. The TGV-station (in Avignon) is only 25 minutes away (by car). From there you will be in Paris in 2.5 hours and London in 6! Interesting cities are within easy driving distances: Nîmes and Arles in 45 minutes; Marseille, Aix-en-Provence and the beautiful beaches of the Mediterranean Sea in 1 hour; Lyon in 1.5 hours.

And finally: Orange is the heart of the Southern Rhône wine-district. Some of the most famous wines are produced only a short drive away: Châteauneuf du Pâpe (at 7 km), Gigondas (at 15 km) or Beaumes-de-Venise (at 20 km). We can give you all kinds of advice on where to find the finest and still affordable wines of the Rhône.

As a commercial building

Villa de l´Arc is presently fully operational as a bed & breakfast (4 guest rooms with private bath) but is also perfectly suited to be used as a Salon de Thé or a restaurant.  There is plenty of space for many dining tables both inside in the three adjacent salons and outside on the large terrace and in the gardens.  All your guests will enjoy the view over the gardens and the Arc de Triomphe.

We have already spoken with the Mayor of Orange who confirmed that the City is very much in favour of these commercial uses for the Villa de l’Arc. The location is ideal: the Arc de Triomphe attracts many visitors every day of the year. With a commercial use in mind we have created a pedestrian entrance through the new eastern wall of the property, providing direct access from the grounds of the Arc into the garden. The terrace of Villa de l’Arc is now literally just a few  steps away from the Arc de Triomphe.  Imagine the sign “Villa de l´Arc, Salon de Thé & Restaurant,” by a welcoming open gate and visitors to the Arc will be heading your way…

Villa de l´Arc has been used as bed & breakfast in the past and is still completely set up for “chambres d´hôtes en ville”, a B&B in the city. French statistics show that chambres d’hôtes en ville have on average an excellent performance (considerably higher occupancy rate than b&b’s in the country). During the time we ran Villa de l’Arc like this we had an excellent occupancy from March through November.
